Choosing God's Thoughts

"As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."   Proverbs 23:7

Nothing is impossible for God.

But if you are anything like me, you think some things aren't possible.

I used to think it was impossible for me to fulfill my desire to be a homeschooling stay at home mom. I thought it was impossible financially and logistically. But mostly? I thought it was impossible for my personality type. I was constantly irritable. I was restless and my husband said that I was the kind of person who would just do better having a job so I could get my ya yas out, you know? After all, I had evidence: long ago I had tried staying home with my teens and I believed it hadn't gone well. 

Turns out it wasn't impossible. And I absolutely love it. And the Lord has even restored my memory of my time at home with my teens as absolutely precious and vital.

"The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it." 

Chinese proverb

As Christians, the "person" who says we can't have an amazing marriage is the enemy. Don't let him interrupt you and keep you from doing it. 

I want to invite you to pull out your prayer journal with me and try an exercise. No really, I am doing that right now. My two year old is asleep and it's my big chance.

I am going to spend a few minutes dreaming about my miracle scenario for where I'd love my marriage to be in a year's time. And gently, I am just going to explore what that would look like, what that would feel like, from a place of curiosity. When I notice mental "malware" pop up that says it's impossible, I am just going to acknowledge it as the voice of the enemy, and get back to dreaming about the desires the Lord has placed in my heart.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  Mark 11:24 

This week, I challenge you to dare to believe for more.
